Commissions
A painting created especially for you
I welcome commissions for original artwork, creating one-of-a-kind pieces that bring together my distinctive use of colour, texture, mixed media and contemporary surrealism.
-
Every commission begins with a conversation. You don't need to have everything worked out before getting in touch — an idea, story or inspiration is enough.
You are welcome to share photographs, memories, colours or other references that help communicate what you have in mind. I will then interpret the agreed idea through my artistic style rather than reproduce another artwork exactly.
The overall concept, dimensions, price and timescale will be agreed with you before work begins.
-
Every commission is individually quoted according to the size, complexity and materials required.
Commissions are available in a range of canvas sizes, from smaller works to large statement pieces. If you are unsure which size would work best, Patricia can help you consider the proportions of the artwork and the space where it will eventually be displayed.
A full quotation will be provided and agreed before work begins.
-
Commissioned artworks are created on professionally stretched canvas.
Patricia primarily works with acrylic paint and mixed media and may incorporate texture, inks, metallic leaf, collage, found materials and other elements where they form part of the creative direction of the piece.
Framing and hanging hardware are not included, allowing you to choose a finish and hanging system that best suits your space.
-
Once the details and quotation have been agreed, a 50% advance payment is required to confirm your commission and for work to begin.
The remaining 50% is payable on completion, before the artwork is collected or shipped.
Shipping costs are quoted separately according to the destination, size and shipping requirements.
-
The time required to complete a commission will depend on its size, complexity and Patricia's existing studio schedule.
As a general guide, please allow approximately 6–12 weeks. Larger or particularly detailed works may take longer, and an estimated completion time will be provided before your commission is confirmed.
If your artwork is intended for a birthday, anniversary or other special occasion, please mention the date when making your initial enquiry.
-
Patricia will keep you updated at appropriate stages as your artwork develops.
Minor adjustments may be possible during the creative process. However, substantial changes to the agreed composition, size or concept once work has begun may not be possible or may incur an additional charge.
As each painting develops organically, some artistic details may evolve during its creation. This freedom is an important part of Patricia's creative process and ensures that each commission remains an original work of art.
-
Completed commissions can be collected by arrangement or shipped within the UK and internationally.
Artwork is professionally packaged and fully insured during transit. Shipping costs are calculated individually according to the size of the finished artwork and its destination.
Where appropriate, shipping options will be discussed with you before your commission is confirmed.
-
If you need to cancel your commission after work has begun, please contact Patricia as soon as possible. Any refund of advance payments will take into account the stage the artwork has reached and reasonable costs and work already undertaken.
Purchasing a commissioned artwork gives you ownership of the original physical painting, while copyright remains with Patricia Lee unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Patricia may photograph completed commissions for her portfolio, website, exhibitions and social media. If your commission contains personal material that you would prefer not to be shared publicly, this can be discussed before work begins.
