BiomatterScape imagines a landscape formed from the building blocks of life. Rather than looking at DNA as something hidden away inside the body, the painting brings that microscopic world into view, turning cells, molecules and organic matter into a strange and vibrant landscape.
Forms that suggest blood cells, molecular structures and fragments of living matter appear to float, travel and collide, while the strong central pulse resembles a heartbeat running through the landscape. Everything feels connected and in motion, reflecting the constant activity taking place within living organisms.
There is a sense of organised chaos throughout the painting. Familiar biological forms sit alongside more abstract and otherworldly shapes, blurring the line between what we recognise and the extraordinary world that exists beyond what we can see with the naked eye.
BiomatterScape is ultimately a celebration of the complex world of DNA — a landscape of matter, energy and information, where the smallest building blocks come together to create life.

My Process
I wanted BiomatterScape to feel alive, energetic and almost as though it is constantly moving. I built the painting through layers of colour, washes, texture and mark-making, allowing forms to overlap and flow into one another rather than keeping everything neatly contained. Stencilled shapes and more controlled details sit alongside loose, expressive areas, reflecting the mix of order and chaos found within the microscopic world.
I used texture to give some of the biological forms a physical presence, while the glossy, rounded elements create the feeling of cells and matter suspended within the landscape. The strong heartbeat running through the centre became a way of pulling everything together — a pulse of life travelling through the painting.

Shipping costs are quoted individually based on your location and preferred shipping method. Original canvases can be shipped either rolled in a protective tube or on stretcher bars. Original artworks on wooden panels are shipped fully assembled. Hanging hardware is not included, allowing collectors to choose the most appropriate system for their space. Every artwork is professionally packaged and fully insured during transit. Worldwide shipping is available.
